all you need to be a professional is to be paid, so how do you get someone to pay you to install fairings on your own bike?

Let me know and I'll split the profits with you!

CBRs are easy. Although, knowing the average CBR rider (no offense to you), I can see why they suggest professional installation.

None taken, I don't really consider myself a "Honda guy" (much prefer Yamaha personally), but the bike was priced at an insanely good deal that I just couldn't pass up. I do hate to admit though, the 06 CBR1000RR does ride quite a bit better (handling wise) than the similar era R1.
And as for the fairings, the only part that really gave me trouble (on removal) was where the side fairings connect the the front faring. Those little tabs are EASY to snap off.

I've always personally prefered the ride quality of the CBRs over the Yamahas and Suzukis. Although riding my friends 200 whp R1 was intense.

I'd ride a CBR if those pegs weren't so high. But it certainly beats riding a Suzuki/Yamaha!

Pretty easy to learn overall, easier if you know how to drive stick. Best way to learn is take a MSF basic rider training course, it goes over everything you need along with actually teaching you to ride in a safe and closed environment. Usually it also counts as the drive test for a motorcycle liscence endorsement.

What about handlebars?
